CDS AND THE CLINTON SCHOOL OF PUBLIC SERVICE PRESENT OPEN HOUSE VIEWING OF CAESAR PHOTO EXHIBIT
Little Rock, AR - The Coalition for a Democratic Syria (CDS) expresses its deep appreciation for the committed work of the Clinton School for Public Service which presented “The Real Reason Behind the Refugee Crisis,” on January 13th -- an exhibit which featured photos from the Caesar file and a panel discussion featuring speakers Stephen J. Rapp, Former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for global criminal justice; Dr. Jim Hooper, former managing director of the Public International Law and Policy Group; Mouaz Moustafa, Executive Director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force and United For a Free Syria. The Clinton School will be displaying the Caesar photos for an open house viewing Sunday, January 22 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM in Sturgis Hall at 1200 President Clinton Ave.
An exhibit of 30 images taken by a former Syrian military police photographer, code-named “Caesar” and tasked with photographing corpses of victims who died inside facilities run by the Assad regime, will be on display at the Clinton School. The images are part of a cache of 55,000 photographs taken between 2011 and 2013, and smuggled out of Syria in 2014. The pictures, most of them taken in Syrian military hospitals, show corpses photographed at close range, one at a time as well as in small groupings. Virtually all of the bodies -- thousands of them -- betray signs of torture: gouged eyes; mangled genitals; bruises and dried blood from beatings; acid and electric burns; emaciation; and marks from strangulation.
