Washington, DC: October 30th 7:20pm: Screening and Q&A with former Syrian detainee Mazen Al-Hummada "The Truth Smugglers: The Disappeared in Syria" hosted by Syrian Cultural House in partnership with the Syrian Emergency Task Force
Since its outbreak in March 2011, the conflict in Syria has cost the lives of more than 400,000 people, displaced millions more, and involved numerous atrocities and crimes against humanity. The Museum seeks to elevate the voices of victims and highlight their search for justice. Meet a Syrian American who will share the stories of people who have fled violence, who have been tortured, or who are missing or dead, and learn more about the efforts to build a legal case against the Assad regime, even as the crisis continues.
Georgetown University hosts one-day seminar "Mass Atrocities and the Threat of Genocide: Lessons from Syria and Iraq" in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Syrian Emergency Task Force
